How Christmas tree delivery works in Philadelphia
Christmas tree delivery in Philadelphia is simple: you order online, choose your tree, size, delivery date and time window, and our team brings a fresh-cut Fraser or Douglas fir to your door. We deliver across Center City and Philadelphia's neighborhoods, the Main Line, West Chester and Chester County, and select South Jersey towns.
We're The Christmas Tree Stand, a family-run business, and our goal is to become part of your family's holiday tradition. Here's exactly how our delivery works, from checkout to the moment your tree is standing in your living room.

How do I order Christmas tree delivery?
Ordering Christmas tree delivery in Philadelphia takes a few minutes online. At checkout, you'll choose:
-
Your tree: a Fraser fir or a Douglas fir
-
Your size: measured from the base to the top of the tip
-
Your delivery date and time window
-
Delivery notes: any preferences, such as a fuller, slimmer, taller or shorter tree within your size range
-
Add-ons: setup, wreaths, garland and more
You'll get an email confirmation as soon as you order. We typically send a delivery reminder the evening before or the morning of your delivery.
Not sure which tree or size to choose? Our Fraser fir vs. Douglas fir guide covers the differences and how to size a tree to your ceiling.
Delivery only or Delivery & Setup: which should I choose?
We offer two levels of service, and the right one depends on how much of the work you want to hand off.
Delivery only. A fresh-cut Christmas tree delivered to your front door, or to the front desk of your apartment building. You bring it inside and set it up in your own stand.
Delivery & Setup. This is our full-service option. We carry the tree into your home, place it in the stand, straighten it and leave it ready to decorate. It includes a Christmas tree stand that's yours to keep for next year. About two-thirds of our delivery customers choose Christmas tree delivery and setup, and it's the easiest way to go if you have stairs, a tall tree or no tree stand.
| Tree and size | Delivery only | Delivery & Setup |
|---|---|---|
| Fraser fir, 5-6' | $139 | $179 |
| Fraser fir, 6-7' (most popular) | $189 | $229 |
| Fraser fir, 7-8' | $229 | $269 |
| Fraser fir, 8-9' | $279 | $339 |
| Douglas fir, 6-7' | $169 | $209 |

How do delivery windows work?
Center City and nearby neighborhoods. When you order, you pick a 4-hour delivery window: 8am to 12pm, 12pm to 4pm, or 4pm to 8pm. On delivery day, we'll text you a tracking link as soon as the driver leaves the stop before yours, so you'll know exactly when to expect us.
Suburbs and outer Philadelphia neighborhoods. Deliveries outside Center City arrive between 8am and 6pm. To keep our routes efficient, the driver starts with the stops closest to Center City and works outward. We plan routes the evening before, so you can email us at hello@thechristmastreestand.com that night or the morning of your delivery for a narrower time estimate. You'll also get a text with a tracking link when the driver leaves the stop before yours.
What happens when my tree arrives?
When your tree arrives, our driver will:
-
Bring your tree to your home or business
-
Shake out loose needles before bringing it inside
-
Give the trunk a fresh cut so it can absorb water
-
Refresh the drilled center hole if you're using a pin-style stand
-
Set the tree up, if you selected setup
With setup, we place the tree in the stand and help get it straight and ready to decorate. A fresh-cut Christmas tree drinks a lot of water in its first days indoors, so get it into water as soon as possible, ideally within an hour.

Do I need to be home for delivery?
It's best to be home, especially if you've selected our setup option at checkout.
If you won't be home, let us know if you'd like the driver to leave your tree outside. If you'll be away for more than an hour, leave a sturdy bucket filled with water outside so the driver can place the freshly cut trunk in water until you return. If you're not home during your scheduled window, a re-delivery fee may apply.
Can you deliver to my apartment or condo?
Yes. With delivery only, we can leave your tree at the front desk of your building. With Christmas tree delivery and setup, we bring it up to your unit and set it up for you.
Before you order, check your building's policy on real trees. Some buildings, including many doorman buildings, don't allow them.
How do I keep my Christmas tree fresh all season?
The most important thing you can do is keep the base of the trunk submerged in water at all times. Follow these tips:
-
Get your tree into water right away. We give your tree a fresh cut at delivery to help it absorb water. Ideally, place it in a water-filled stand within an hour.
-
Check the water level every day. Trees drink a surprising amount of water, especially during their first week indoors.
-
Never let the stand run dry. If the trunk dries out, sap can harden over the cut and make it harder for the tree to absorb water.
-
Use plain tap water. No additives are needed. Warm (not boiling) water can help when you first set up the tree.
-
Keep your tree away from heat. Avoid fireplaces, radiators, space heaters and heating vents.
-
Avoid prolonged direct sunlight. A warm, sunny window dries a tree faster.
-
Use LED lights when you can. They give off less heat.
A note for Philadelphia-area homes. Homes across the city, the Main Line, Chester County and South Jersey get warm and dry once the heat is running in December. If your tree sits near a radiator, baseboard heater, forced-air vent, fireplace or sunny window, it may dry out faster and need more water.
Some needle shedding is normal with every real tree, especially in the first few days. Our Fraser fir vs. Douglas fir guide explains what's normal and when shedding means your tree needs more water.

Do you offer bulk Christmas tree orders for weddings and events?
Yes. We offer bulk Christmas tree orders for weddings, holiday parties, corporate events, photo shoots, seasonal displays and businesses. Depending on your order, we can help with:
-
Multiple trees in a variety of sizes
-
Delivery and setup
-
Tree removal after the event
-
Multi-tree order discounts
Tell us how many trees you need, your preferred sizes, the event location and your dates, and we'll put together a custom quote. Discounts depend on the number of trees, sizes, delivery location and services. For larger or more complex orders, reach out as early as possible so we can confirm availability and scheduling.
Christmas tree delivery FAQ
What types of Christmas trees do you sell?
We sell premium Fraser fir and Douglas fir trees, the two most popular high-quality varieties for homes in the Philadelphia region. Every fresh-cut Christmas tree we deliver is premium grade, the highest grade offered by Christmas tree farms.
Can I request a specific height or shape?
Yes. Add your preference to the delivery notes at checkout, such as "closer to 7 feet," "slimmer tree" or "full and wide." We hand-select each tree and do our best to match your request within the size range you ordered. Because every tree grows naturally, we can't guarantee an exact height or shape.
Do I need my own tree stand?
With delivery only, yes. With Christmas tree delivery and setup, a stand is included and it's yours to keep.
Can I book tree removal with my delivery?
Removal is booked separately, because our system can't schedule a delivery and a removal in the same order. Removal is $40 for trees 3' to 8' and $55 for trees 8' to 10'. We open removal booking around December 15 to 20 and email our customers when it opens. If you need an earlier removal because of travel plans, contact our team. Removals run January 2 to 17.
What if I'm not happy with my tree?
Let the driver know before you accept the delivery. If the tree isn't up to our standard, we'll redeliver a replacement at no additional charge.
How far ahead should I book Christmas tree delivery in Philadelphia?
As early as you can. Delivery dates fill fastest from mid-November through the first week of December. South Jersey has one delivery day a week, so book early there.
