Christmas Tree Delivery or a Tree Lot? How to Choose in Philadelphia
If you're wondering where to buy a Christmas tree in Philadelphia this year, The Christmas Tree Stand gives you two ways to do it. You can have a fresh-cut tree delivered to your door anywhere in our Greater Philadelphia service area, or you can pick your own at one of our seasonal lots in Fishtown and West Chester.
Both are run by the same family team. The difference is how much of the work you want to do yourself. If you already know you want delivery, you can schedule your Fraser fir delivery now. If you're still deciding, here's how the two compare.
Delivery or a tree lot: how do they compare?
The quickest way to decide where to buy a Christmas tree in Philadelphia is to think about your car, your stairs and your schedule.
| Tree delivery | Pop-up tree lot | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | No car, busy schedules, rowhome stairs, taller trees | Families who love choosing a tree in person |
| What you do | Order online and pick a delivery date (plus a 4-hour window in Center City) | Visit, choose your tree, drive it home |
| What we do | Hand-select your tree, deliver it, fresh cut at your door | Help you choose a size and shape, secure it to your car |
| Setup in your home | Available, with a stand that's yours to keep | Not included |
| Where | Philadelphia, the Main Line, West Chester and Chester County, select South Jersey towns | Fishtown (Philadelphia) and West Chester |
| When | Book now; delivery dates run through the season | Open by Black Friday (November 27) until sold out |
| How to book | Order online | Walk in during lot hours |
Delivery and the lots are separate services. Delivery is booked online, and the lots are for picking up a tree in person and taking it home yourself.
When is tree delivery the better choice?
Christmas tree delivery in Philadelphia makes the most sense when getting a tree home is the hard part. Delivery is usually the better fit if:
-
You don't have a car. Many of our Center City customers order delivery because there's no easy way to get a tree home. Center City has daily delivery, with next-day delivery available.
-
You live up a stoop or a few flights of stairs. With Delivery & Setup, we carry the tree inside, put it in the stand and straighten it.
-
You want a bigger tree. Trees 7 feet and up are heavy and awkward to tie to a car. We deliver Fraser firs up to 8 to 9 feet.
-
Your weekends are already full. Pick a delivery date (Center City also picks a 4-hour window: 8am to 12pm, 12pm to 4pm or 4pm to 8pm), and we’ll text you with tracking when the driver leaves the stop before yours.
-
You don't own a tree stand. Delivery & Setup includes a stand that's yours to keep for next year.
Our most popular tree is a 6-7' Fraser fir: $189 for delivery only, or $229 with setup. For the full walkthrough of zones, windows and what happens at the door, read how Christmas tree delivery in Philadelphia works.

I've always picked my tree in person. Will you choose a good one?
This is the question we hear most from families who are new to delivery, and it's a fair one. Choosing a Christmas tree is personal.
Here's how we make sure you get a tree you love:
-
We only deliver premium-grade trees. That's the highest grade Christmas tree farms offer, chosen for freshness, healthy color, fullness, shape and minimal bare spots.
-
You can tell us what you want. Add a note at checkout, such as "fuller tree," "slimmer for a narrow corner" or "closer to 7 feet," and we'll hand-select a tree to match within the size range you ordered.
-
You see it before you accept it. If you're not happy with the tree when it arrives, tell the driver before accepting the delivery. If it isn't up to our standard, we'll redeliver a replacement at no additional charge.
-
We want you back next year. We're a family business, and earning a lifelong customer depends on delivering a tree you're excited to bring home. That's how we've earned a 5-star rating on Google and 4.9 stars on Yelp.
One thing to know: trees naturally vary, so we can't guarantee an exact height or shape. Order the size range that fits your space. If you need a different size than you ordered, a $20 to $30 delivery fee and any price difference may apply. Our Fraser fir vs. Douglas fir guide shows how to measure for the right size.
And if you've been looking for a Christmas tree lot near me because you just want a great tree without the hassle, delivery may be the easier answer.
When is a tree lot the better choice?
For some families, walking the rows and picking the tree is the tradition. If that's you, our two seasonal lots are the best answer to where to buy a Christmas tree in Philadelphia and Chester County.
At either lot, our team will help you compare trees, choose the right size and shape for your space, and secure your tree to your vehicle so you can get it home safely. The lots are for picking up a tree in person and taking it home yourself.

When do the lots open?
Both lots open by Black Friday, November 27, and stay open until we sell out. Our trees arrive the week of Thanksgiving, so if they come in early we may open the weekend before. Check our Google listings for opening-day updates.
Because the lots are outdoors, hours may change or we may close early during severe weather. If the forecast looks rough, check our Google listing before you head over. We also post updates there when inventory runs low or a lot sells out.
Tips for visiting a Christmas tree lot
Whether you choose ours or another Christmas tree lot near me, a little prep goes a long way:
-
Measure your ceiling first. Tree heights include the tip, the single upright branch at the top, which is usually 6 to 12 inches long. Leave room for the tip and your tree topper.
-
Measure your floor space. Taller trees have wider bases, and every tree's shape is a little different.
-
Come early in the season for the best selection. Lots sell down as December goes on.
-
Get it into water within an hour of getting home. Give it a fresh cut if it's been out of water for a while.
